Featured Poem

Mo(u)rning

You awake to a sunrise, the pigment
Of which reminds you of yesterday, and
Draws itself upon the mud and the sand.
At dawn, one returns what one has been lent.

The shadow of metal, twisted and bent,
Stretched out before you on the road, today—
Real, or an act—a scene from a play?
Some dreams are refuges from heaven sent.

If you turn fast enough, you will discern
Souls running through the fields as they burn.
Hold your breath—this day's song is yet unsung.
Reach out and grab the cup of work and toil
Which Fate has offered you—chai that still boils
As you sip it, to scald your eager tongue.
